ABSTRACT

After a series of COVID‐19 outbreaks among employees in the German meat‐processing industry, the Work Safety Control Act protecting these workers made it on the government's agenda in July 2020. From a Multiple Streams perspective, local corona hotspots may be understood as policy windows for introducing respective measures. However, this alone is not sufficient to explain agenda setting. This study investigates the coupling of streams within policy windows. Introducing the notion of relational coupling to the MSF research agenda, discourse network analysis provides a new methodology to reveal entrepreneurial activities. Studying the German mass media discourse on the issue identifies two stages: (1) An initial problem brokerage without coupling of core policies, followed by (2) a coupling across all streams based on a focusing event. We argue that relational coupling allows for an enhanced understanding of agenda setting. Reducing the molecule complexity is achieved by reducing the molecule size after enzymatic digestion to produce smaller fragments more amenable to LC separation and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) sequencing. ABSTRACT

Cargo consolidation is becoming a crucial part of international transportation and changing the customer consumption patterns of the international community. Poor connections between different operations and the delay of international express have motivated sellers and logistics organizers to put timeliness first in international multimodal transport, especially during the COVID-19 epidemic. However, for cargo with small quality and multiple batches, designing an efficient consolidation network presents a set of unique challenges, including the coupling of multiple origins and destinations (ODs), and fully utilizing the capacity of the container. We defined a multistage timeliness transit consolidation problem to decouple the multiple ODs of the logistics resource. By solving this problem, we can increase the connectivity between different phases and make full use of the container. To make this systematic multistage transit consolidation more flexible, we proposed a two-stage adaptive-weighted genetic algorithm that mainly focuses on the edge area of the Pareto front space and the diversity of the population. Computational experiments indicate that the correlation between parameters has certain regular trends, and appropriate parameter settings can lead to more satisfactory results. We also confirm that the pandemic has a giant influence on the market share of different transportation modes. Moreover, the comparison with other approaches demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

ABSTRACT

Chikungunya (CHIK) patients may be vulnerable to coronavirus disease (COVID-19). However, presently there are no anti-COVID-19/CHIK therapeutic alternatives available. The purpose of this research was to determine the pharmacological mechanism through which kaempferol functions in the treatment of COVID-19-associated CHIK co-infection. We have used a series of network pharmacology and computational analysis-based techniques to decipher and define the binding capacity, biological functions, pharmacological targets, and treatment processes in COVID-19-mediated CHIK co-infection. We identified key therapeutic targets for COVID-19/CHIK, including TP53, MAPK1, MAPK3, MAPK8, TNF, IL6 and NFKB1. Gene ontology, molecular and upstream pathway analysis of kaempferol against COVID-19 and CHIK showed that DEGs were confined mainly to the cytokine-mediated signalling pathway, MAP kinase activity, negative regulation of the apoptotic process, lipid and atherosclerosis, TNF signalling pathway, hepatitis B, toll-like receptor signaling, IL-17 and IL-18 signaling pathways. The study of the gene regulatory network revealed several significant TFs including KLF16, GATA2, YY1 and FOXC1 and miRNAs such as let-7b-5p, mir-16-5p, mir-34a-5p, and mir-155-5p that target differential-expressed genes (DEG). According to the molecular coupling results, kaempferol exhibited a high affinity for 5 receptor proteins (TP53, MAPK1, MAPK3, MAPK8, and TNF) compared to control inhibitors. In combination, our results identified significant targets and pharmacological mechanisms of kaempferol in the treatment of COVID-19/CHIK and recommended that core targets be used as potential biomarkers against COVID-19/CHIK viruses. Before conducting clinical studies for the intervention of COVID-19 and CHIK, kaempferol might be evaluated in wet lab tests at the molecular level.

ABSTRACT

Infection with SARS-CoV-2 initiates an immune-hemostatic response. While both systems are intimately connected and necessary for an efficient immune response to contain the infection, excessive coagulation activation might exceed the valuable benefits by causing thrombotic consequences and excessive inflammation. This biological response is new to clinicians and researchers, and accordingly, tremendous studies have been conducted on coagulopathy and its relationship to COVID-19 disease during this pandemic. Therefore, it takes a research insight from a bibliometric perspective to determine research hotspots and trends of COVID-19 associated coagulopathy (C19-CA). The analysis relies on the Scopus database for bibliographic content and Visualization of Similarities viewer software to map bibliometric data of C19-CA. Our study finds the most eminent authors, journals, institutions, funding organizations, and countries that publish in the C19-CA. Additionally; this research employs bibliometric analysis of co-authorship, co-citations, bibliographic coupling, and co-occurrence of keywords. A total of 2242 studies were retrieved, and the number of annual publications of C19-CA showed remarkable growth. The top-publishing authors on C19-CA are Smadja, D.M., Diehl, J.L., and Gendron, N (France). The total number of articles published in English in these three years was 1241, with the original article accounting for 99.8% and conference papers accounting for 0.2%. Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) is the top-productive institution, with the US being the top-publishing country. Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis received the highest number of original articles. The research results were mainly published in the fields of Medicine, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology, Immunology and Microbiology. Yuanyuan Li, who is (China), is the top-collaborating author. China and its authors have the highest number of citations. Keywords' co-occurrence analyses of the authors and all keywords revealed the following themes in C19-CA; abnormal coagulation parameters, pulmonary coagulopathy, venous and arterial thrombotic disorders, distinct features of coagulopathy, inflammation, and thrombosis in COVID-19, and anticoagulants and thrombolytic therapies. By combining bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer software, we identified C19-CA's leaders, collaborating institutions, and research hotspots, as well as give references for future research paths.

ABSTRACT

The article describes the experimental measurements made at a low-voltage residential and educational power substation, in a point of common coupling. Two groups of experiments were carried out, in normal conditions and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Measurements were made using a power quality analyzer and include phase RMS voltages and line currents, total harmonic distortion and unbalance of phase voltages and line currents, neutral current, active, reactive and apparent powers, power factors and displacement power factors, Fresnel diagrams, and harmonic spectra. Measurements indicate significant differences of power quality indicators between the two measurement groups. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

A critical issue in the study of scientific communication from a systems theoretical perspective is its role in multiple intersystem relationships. During COVID-19, politics has adopted scientific findings to inform political decisions. However, science has in response actively coordinated its operations for providing desired stimuli to politics. Luhmann identified advice as a form of structural coupling that links political and scientific systems. Advice is not a monolithic intervention by which one side acts on the other but is rather an interface that enables the two systems to relate through distancing. In this article, I empirically illustrate how the structural coupling of the political system and scientific system through advice manifests itself in an examination of the roles that various organizations (expert meeting and cluster task forces) have played in Japan's response to COVID-19. Through this analysis, I provide a theoretical insight regarding these organizations and a more detailed case analysis of the transformation of certain organizations to re-describe the system theoretical insights of advice in the form of scientific communication between politics and science.

ABSTRACT

PurposeSince the Great Financial Crisis (GFC), the shocks are getting deeper and deeper on the economy, sectors and companies. In these years, turnaround strategies have evolved and contribute to improving the agility and audacity of managers. This article studies the change in the research agenda and in the academic discourse as systemic disruptions become widespread and provides evidence on collaboration networks and publication opportunities.Design/methodology/approachThis research uses a comparative bibliometric analysis to understand the changes in the academic debate as of 2008. The core collection of Web of Science (WoS) is used and 198 articles on turnaround strategies published in journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports® (JCR) – Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) in areas like business, management, economics and finance during 1965–2022.FindingsThis research reveals an important intertemporal evolution between periods, both in the collaborative networks of researchers and in the journals that dominate the impact discourse. In addition, it provides evidence of the change in academic discourse, through the evolution of the topics of interest after the GFC. The results suggest publication opportunities around gaps not yet closed by the academic literature.Practical implicationsThis article allows researchers to be guided in identifying gaps that have not yet been closed. In addition, this research has important managerial implications, since it guides and advises journal editors on new emerging issues.Originality/valueThis document offers a global vision on the subject of study and an understanding of the development of the discourse of the academy.

ABSTRACT

Synthesis of novel 2-phenylqinoline conjugated bis-triazole analogues 8(a–n) demonstrated by a series of reactions concerning Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling, reduction of carbonyl groups, and click reaction. The structure of final compounds predicted based on IR, 1H, 13C NMR and Mass spectral data analysis. The title compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against two-gram positive (S. aureus and S. pyogens) and two-gram negative (P. aeruginosa and E. coli) bacteria, and two fungal strains (S. rolfs and F. ricini) by employing Amoxicillin and Bavistin as standard drugs, respectively. The compound containing 3-chlorophenyl, 4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl, 3,4-dimethylphenyl and 3-fluoro-4-chlorophenyl residues, indicated promising antibacterial activity and the best antifungal activity was reported for compounds containing 3-chlorophenyl, 4-methoxyphenyl and 4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl residues. Further, Insilco screening of these compounds against COVID-19 main protease of corona virus had displayed good docking scores and binding interactions in its active site pocket. © 2023 Wiley-VCH GmbH.

ABSTRACT

The successes of YOPP from the presentations and keynote presentations included * a better understanding of the impact of key polar measurements (radiosondes and space-based instruments such as microwave radiometers), and recent advancements in the current NWP observing system, achieved through coordinated OSEs in both polar regions (e.g., Sandu et al. 2021);* enhanced understanding of the linkages between Arctic and midlatitude weather (e.g., Day et al. 2019);* advancements in the atmosphere–ocean–sea ice and atmosphere–land–cryosphere coupling in NWP, and in assessing and recognizing the added value of coupling in Earth system models (e.g., Bauer et al. 2016);* deployment of tailored polar observation campaigns to address yet-unresolved polar processes (e.g., Renfrew et al. 2019);* progress in verification and forecasting techniques for sea ice, including a novel headline score (e.g., Goessling and Jung 2018);* advances in process understanding and process-based evaluation with the establishment of the YOPPsiteMIP framework and tools (Svensson 2020);* better understanding of emerging societal and stakeholder needs in the Arctic and Antarctic (e.g., Dawson et al. 2017);and * innovative transdisciplinary methodologies for coproducing salient information services for various user groups (Jeuring and Lamers 2021). The YOPP Final Summit identified a number of areas worthy of prioritized research in the area of environmental prediction and services for the polar regions: * coupled atmosphere, sea ice, and ocean models with an emphasis on advanced parameterizations and enhanced resolution at which critical phenomena start to be resolved (e.g., ocean eddies);* improved definition and representation of stable boundary layer processes, including mixed-phase clouds and aerosols;incorporation of wave–ice–ocean interactions;* radiance assimilation over sea ice, land ice, and ice sheets;understanding of linkages between polar regions and lower latitudes from a prediction perspective;* exploring the limits of predictability of the atmosphere–cryosphere–ocean system;* an examination of the observational representativeness over land, sea ice, and ocean;better representation of the hydrological cycle;and * transdisciplinary work with the social science community around the use of forecasting services and operational decision-making to name but a few. The presentations and discussions at the YOPP Final Summit identified the major legacy elements of YOPP: the YOPPsiteMIP approach to enable easy comparison of collocated multivariate model and observational outputs with the aim of enhancing process understanding, the development of an international and multi-institutional community across many disciplines investigating aspects of polar prediction and services, the YOPP Data Portal3 (https://yopp.met.no/), and the education and training delivered to early-career polar researchers. Next steps Logistical issues, the COVID-19 pandemic, but also new scientific questions (e.g., the value of targeted observations in the Southern Hemisphere), as well as technical issues emerging toward the end of the YOPP Consolidation Phase, resulted in the decision to continue the following three YOPP activities to the end of 2023: (i) YOPP Southern Hemisphere (YOPP-SH);(ii) Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (MIIP);of which YOPPSiteMIP is a critical element;and (iii) the Societal, Economics and Research Applications (PPP-SERA) Task Team.

ABSTRACT

This study follows Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) to examine the existing literature on the connectedness of green bonds with other markets as an attempt to highlight the effectiveness of green bonds in risk management and the benefits associated with incorporating green bonds in investment portfolios. An extensive search of relevant research papers to the scope of the review led to the identification of 31 articles published by February 2022. Our analysis traces the evolution of studies on green bonds' interactions with other markets, the methodologies and data frequencies used for cross-market relations analysis, and the role of green bonds in portfolio risk management (diversifier, hedge, and safe-haven) in normal and extreme market conditions. The study reports several interesting findings. First, green bonds can be a strategic safe-haven avenue for investors in stocks, dirty energy stocks, and the foreign exchange market in the US and China in extreme market downturns. Second, green bonds demonstrated hedging properties against spillovers from Bitcoin, forex, soft commodities, and CO2 emission allowance. Third, the role of green bonds in the markets of natural gas, industrial metals, and crude oil is limited to a portfolio diversifier in different investment horizons. Fourth, green bonds had no diversification or hedge benefits for investors in conventional bonds. Fifth, the interrelationships between green bonds and most markets' understudy were influenced by macroeconomic and global factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic policy uncertainty, OVX, and VIX. Our review of the literature also facilitated identification of future research topics. The outcome of the review offers insightful information to investors in green bonds in risk management and assets allocation. Policy makers can benefit from this review in effective policy legislation for the advancement of the green bonds market and acceleration of a smooth transition to a net zero emission economy.

ABSTRACT

Healthcare management and COVID-19 has been broadly studied during the recent few days, especially after declaration of the COVID-19 outbreak in almost all countries in the world. Therefore, the present research article aims to provide an extensive overview of the scientific literature about the study of healthcare management and COVID-19 for choosing the new topic of related research. It conducts four types of analyses where the first analysis is a trend analysis and other three analyses are related to network and density maps. The second analysis is analyzed decisively in order to produce all keywords, author keywords and index keywords co-occurrence network map and country co-authorship network map and tables summarizing the significant scientific trends under the present topics. The third analysis is analyzed purposefully in order to produce all documents, journals, authors and countries bibliographic coupling network maps and tables summarizing the significant scientific trends. The last analysis provides valuable approaching of the most significant used keywords on the research topic and the links among them using keyword co-occurrence network and density maps respectively.

PurposeToday, the rapid development and expansion of advanced technologies have created many changes in society and industry and motivate businesses to use digital transformation strategy (DTS) to create significant changes in the business environment. Therefore, it is necessary to define a roadmap and a vision that will determine the steps forward in this direction. In line with this, the purpose of this study is a comprehensive review of past and present studies in this field to identify future research guidelines and gaps related to the implementation of this concept.Design/methodology/approachThis study is a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software for all documents published in the Scopus database in the field of DTS from 2011 (the emergence of Industry 4.0) to 2021. It should also be noted that the data for this study have been collected and analyzed in September 2021.FindingsThe current study presents the basic bibliometric results for DTS, and it focuses on DTS performance analysis and its science mapping during the past 10 years. This study first shows the publication process, types and languages of published documents, and the most influential authors, institutions, sources and countries in terms of publishing documents and receiving citations in the field of DTS. Then, by using the VOSviewer software, it shows the bibliographic coupling of top authors, institutions, sources and countries. Finally, it reports the co-occurrence of authors' frequently occurring keywords and the timeline of their publications.Originality/valueThe study presents the results of the first attempt to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of DTS-related documents. Its contribution lies in the fact that it has categorized the most frequently co-occurring keywords into specific clusters so that researchers will know which keywords have co-occurred with each other the most. Also, the most influential keywords in each cluster in terms of having total link strength and the number of its co-occurrence with others were identified. Finally, it became clear that the process of publishing documents over time has been concentrated on topics such as acceptance of digital culture, strategic renewal and digital transformation of business models, as well as presentation of a research agenda on the applications and barriers of DTS in critical situations such as COVID-19, which leads researchers to some awareness and insights for conducting new research.

ABSTRACT

The general focus of research is the development of recycling protocols for disposable surgical masks into new raw materials for different possible applications. Separation of various constituent materials was performed by manual procedure or by water floating. The potentially targeted end applications are thin film and glass fibre composites. Polypropylene thin-films with a thickness of 100 micron were produced by compounding the face mask polymer with different content of a virgin PP, in the range 20-80 wt%. Face mask polypropylene (FM-PP) composites containing glass fibre of 15 wt% and 30 wt% were also prepared, evidencing an improvement of stiffness and strength, furtherly increased in presence of coupling agent. © 2022 Fambri et al.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThe manufacturing sector is well known for its significance in upholding the economic prosperity of many nations. However, in today's unprecedented environment, the resilience of this sector has become vulnerable to relentless catastrophic events, thus gaining a serious concern among the economies driven by this sector. Albeit the various determinants, human capital emerges as the widely accepted core factor that holds the key to proliferate organisational resilience. Therefore, the present systematic literature review seeks to intensify the understanding of the link between human capital and organisational resilience in the manufacturing context.Design/methodology/approachThis paper systematically reviews the studies converging human capital and organisational resilience in the context of manufacturing from the year 2011 to 2021 based on the PRISMA protocol. A bibliographic coupling analysis was carried out using VOSviewer software to expose the main research themes and trends concerning the relationship.FindingsThe bibliographic coupling analysis discovered links between publications to produce a framework outlining a holistic state-of-art of the literature intersecting human capital and organisational resilience. The analysis identified main research themes by clustering the prior studies into seven groups, which describe the direction of the literature.Originality/valueThis study offers a novel framework and in-depth understanding to the research community to delve into the interrelationship between human capital and organisational resilience research. Guided by the gaps in the literature, a set of outstanding avenues for the forthcoming studies are also proposed.

ABSTRACT

Climate change with adverse impacts on the environment, economy, and society requires marketing to change current attitudes and behaviors towards sustainable production and consumption, and thus climate change is interrelated to marketing. However, no body of literature has comprehensively investigated the connections and relationships between climate change and marketing. This study examined such connections and relationships from a bibliometric approach using Web of Science and Scopus databases from 1992 to 2022. The search strategy utilized topic and title/abstract/keyword search. The search query retrieved 1723 documents. VOSviewer and Biblioshiny were utilized to analyze data on authors, keywords, institutions, countries, sources, citations, and co-citations. The findings showed an upward trend in the annual number of publications with the top three most productive countries being the USA, the UK, and Australia and the most productive institutions in the USA, New Zealand, and the UK. The top three author keywords were climate change, sustainability, and marketing. The Sustainability journal ranked first in terms of productivity while Energy Policy in terms of citations. International collaborations were mostly between developed countries also known as Global North Countries, and collaborations between these countries and developing and developed countries should be encouraged. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of documents increased, and research themes altered. Research on energy, innovation, insect farming, and carbon management is a top priority. The results proved that most studies were conducted outside the field of marketing.

ABSTRACT

Plasmonic enhanced fluorescence (PEF) technology is a powerful strategy to improve the sensitivity of immunofluorescence microarrays (IFMA), however, current approaches to constructing PEF platforms are either expensive/time-consuming or reliant on specialized instruments. Here, we develop a completely alternative approach relying on a two-step protocol that includes the self-assembly of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) at the water-oil interface and subsequent annealing-assisted regulation of gold nanogap. Our optimized thermal-annealing GNPs (TA-GNP) platform generates adequate hot spots, and thus produces high-density electromagnetic coupling, eventually enabling 240-fold fluorescence enhancement of probed dyes in the near-infrared region. For clinical detection of human samples, TA-GNP provides super-high sensitivity and low detection limits for both hepatitis B surface antigen and SARS-CoV-2 binding antibody, coupled with a much-improved detection dynamic range up to six orders of magnitude. With fast detection, high sensitivity, and low detection limit, TA-GNP could not only substantially improve the outcomes of IFMA-based precision medicine but also find applications in fields of proteomic research and clinical pathology. A practical synthesis of ellagic acid has been achieved from methyl gallate by a proposed synthetic route of five steps, consisting of ketal protection, regioselective bromination, bis-lactonization, C-C bond formation between the aromatic rings of the galloyl groups, and ketal deprotection, in 38% overall yield. ABSTRACT

Detecting protective measures (e.g., masks, goggles and protective clothing) is a momentous step in the fight against COVID-19. The detection mode of unmanned devices based on Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and fusion technology is more efficient, economical and safe than the traditional manual detection. In this paper, a tightly-coupled nonlinear optimization approach is used to augment the visual feature extraction of SLAM by the gyroscope of the IMU to obtain a high-precision visual inertial system for joint position and pose estimation. Based on the VINS-Mono frame, first, an LSD algorithm based on a conditional selection strategy is proposed to extract line features efficiently. Then, we propose recovering missing point features from line features. Moreover, we propose a strategy to recover vanishing point features from line features, and add residuals to the SLAM cost function based on optimization, which optimizes point-line features in real time to promote the tracking and matching accuracy. Second, the wavelet threshold denoising method based on the 3σ criterion is used to carry out real-time online denoising for gyroscope to improve the output precision. Our WD-PL-VINS was measured on publicly available EuRoC datasets, TUM VI datasets and evaluated and validated in lab testing with a unmanned vehicle (UV) based on the NVIDIA Jetson-TX2 development board. The results show that our method's APE and RPE on MH-03-easy sequences are improved by 69.28% and 97.66%, respectively, compared with VINS-Mono. © 2001-2012 IEEE.
